Jeff McCarthy is Chair of Environmental Studies and Associate Professor of English at Westminster College. He grew up in Maine, and was educated in New England, Scotland and the Pacific Northwest. Jeff has an extensive background in mountaineering including expeditions to Kenya, North Africa, the Himalaya and Alaska and has climbed around the world on rock, ice and snow. His writing is found in academic journals and climbing magazines, including in outdoor magazines like Alpinist, The Mountain Gazette, and Climbing Magazine.
