Greer Chesher’s book Heart of the Desert Wild: Grand Staircase—Escalante National Monument won the Utah Book Award for nonfiction. Chesher’s other books include The Desert’s Hoodoo Heart: Bryce Canyon National Park; Dinosaur! The Dinosaur National Park Quarry; Bryce Canyon Impressions; National Park Rangers! An Activity and Sticker Book for kids; Moviemaking: Films Made on the Colorado Plateau; and, Zion: A Storied Land. Her naturalist essays have appeared in Northern Lights, Petroglyph, Canyon Journal, Black Ridge Review, Isotope and in the book Comeback Wolves: Western Writers Welcome the Wolf Home, winner of the Colorado Book Award for anthology.

Chesher is half of that daring duo, the Adventure Dogs. With her faithful companion Bo, the border collie, Greer travels the Southwest in search of truth, vision, and a good cup of coffee. She rangered for the National Park Service for twenty years at such places as Bandelier National Monument and Zion and Grand Canyon National Parks. She lives in Rockville, Utah, with Bo, Minnie the Jack Russell Terror, and her horses Rowdy the White and Valiant.
