Mary Amato is an author, puppeteer, choreographer, and teacher, best known for her comic children’s books: The Word Eater, The Naked Mole-Rat Letters, Snarf Attack, Drooling and Dangerous, and Please Write in this Book. Her articles, essays, and poems have appeared in magazines and newspapers for children and adults, such as Muse, Cicada, The Washington Post, Parenting, Mothering, and many others. She is the winner of numerous grants and awards, including The Arizona Public Library Association’s Young Reader Award, The Society of Children’s Book Writers’ Nonfiction Book Grant, The Heekin Foundation’s Fellowship for Children’s Novel-in-Progress, and Indiana University ’s Keisler Prize for Poetry.
