Guest Writers Series

The 2007-2008 Guest Writers Series, with a steller group of writers reading from their work will present at the Salt Lake City Main Library Auditorium (210 E 400 S) and at the Art Barn/Finch Lane Gallery (1325 E 100 S). All presentations are free and open to the public. Come meet Fiction Writer, Aimee Bender and Poet, Jane Springer.

Aimee Bender lives in Los Angeles. Her stories have appeared in Granta, GQ, Harper's, Fence, Tin House, Paris Review, and several other publications. She is the author of collection The Girl in the Flammable Skirt and An Invisible Sign of My Own, her first novel.

Jane Springer is winner of the University of Utah Press Shahid Prize.


Utah History Through Native Eyes- Learning About the Noochew (Ute People)
Time: 7:00pm
Location: Moab; Moab Information Center- Center and Main
This presentation with Larry Ceespooch invites the audience to learn about the Noochew (Ute People) and experience Utah history through their native eyes. The audience will be asked to respond to the three time periods below, as if they were Nooch (Ute). The speaker will help bring out the most important effects each time period had on the Noochew: Life Before Non-Indian Contact; 1600s—The Spanish Influence; and 1850-1865—Contact with the Latter Day Saints.
