Maria Huber's Influence
on Pioneer Family Life

Huber Grove at Wasatch Mountain State Park was once the home of Johannes and Maria Huber, Swiss immigrants to Heber Valley. Between 1871 and 1880, Maria raised a large family in their small cabin, kept their apple orchard productive, and their home warm and inviting. Maria Huber’s Influence on Pioneer Family Life highlights Maria's influence using an eclectic group of her possessions, including her spectacles, examples of her tatting, a carved butter mold, and some of her precious silverware. All of these objects were donated to the Park by Maria's granddaughter as a result of research done for this project!

"This project gave us a starting place to do more interpretation at the Grove. By immersing us in to the project we learned a lot and got to know the Hubers. This will just enhance the future programs there."
